There’s something deeply empowering about understanding how evolution has shaped the human brain and continues to influence our behaviors in modern society. After all, we’re just another social species, navigating a world that constantly challenges our survival.
I'm a Doctoral Researcher with a keen passion for human evolution and genetics. My PhD has primarily centered on the Gender Equality Paradox –which shows that sex differences are larger in more gender-equal countries– with a specific focus on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education.
My research focus extends well beyond sex differences to psychiatric disorders. I am interested in solving the so-called Evolutionary Paradox which questions why natural selection hasn’t eliminated genetic variants linked to reduced fitness (ability to reproduce) and predisposing individuals to psychiatric disorders.
Essentially, if it’s a paradox, I study it! 😄
But I’m also involved in projects on migration and neuroscience to balance the paradoxical scientist in me.
