I am a Senior Researcher at the University of Turku, specializing in cross-cultural research and the processes that drive significant life decisions, particularly within STEM fields.
My doctoral research produced the largest assessment to date of sex differences in intra-individual academic strengths among adolescents, utilizing over 2.5 million observations across 80 countries and 12 years. This work has been published in top-tier journals, such as Psychological Science, and was recognized with the New Investigator Award from the Human Behavior and Evolution Society.
My current research agenda extends this framework beyond gender to encompass broader individual differences, including low-SES populations and lifespan development. My goal is to provide evidence-based tools for educators and policymakers to enhance STEM engagement and mitigate educational inequality.
Ultimately, I am driven by an interest in the potential and the limitations of large-scale, cross-national data in explaining human behavior.
